Birthday’s are awesome. What other day to people celebrate YOU by bringing gifts and being nice to you? There are some memorable milestone birthdays out there and Marin Brewing just turned the one that probably is the worst for beer drinkers…they just turned 20. So realistically in dog years they could drink beer at this point, but technically can’t in human years. But they are throwing a big party despite being underage, and if you are in the Larkspur, CA area it’s worth checking out. Here’s their official press release:

Larkspur, CA –Marin Brewing Company (MBC), the first pub and brewery in Marin County, known for world-class microbrewed ales, will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in the brewing industry on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009, at 1809 Larkspur Landing Circle, Larkspur, CA 94939 Marin County, CA.  Join MBC as it celebrates a birthday like none other, with a special batch of the Anniversary Ale, the Tripel Dipsea Belgian Ale and live music. On Wednesday, April 1st, the brewpub will welcome guests to join in on the well deserved commemoration of a world class micro-brewery.

Opening brewery and pub doors on April 1st, 1989 with his late partner Craig Tasley, hombrewer and beer aficionado Brendan Moylan gave Marin County, the Bay Area and the microbrewing industry a gem of a brewery. Over the years, MBC has developed cult classic ales such as Mt. Tam Pale, White Knuckle Double IPA, Bluebeery Ale, and the world wide award winning favorites Pt. Reyes Porter. Longtime Brewmaster Arne Johnson continues to makes the cult classics in regular batches but finds time to create exquisite ales such as the bourbon barrel aged Barleywine, or the rich and thick Quad, so fully loaded that one can only have 10oz in one sitting.

Marin Brewing Company ales are only available in California and Oregon but over a 20 year span have gained national attention by winning 72 gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival; other prestigious awards include silver and bronze from the Great American Beer Festival, the World Beer Cup, numerous 1st place blue ribbons from California State Fairs, and other beer festivals throughout the country.

For the 20th Anniversary Celebration, Brewmaster Arne Johnson will brew a batch of Anniversary Ale, the Tripel Dipsea Belgian Ale, and the 20th Anniversary Ale, which will be an English style ale, for a limited time only.  Contact MBC Sales Manager Curtis Cassidy for information on other establishments carrying the MBC anniversary draft at 415.246.5290.
