The result is a beer that pours a lighter cola color with an off-white head that borders OUT OF R 100 elebrating their silver anniversary, Abita gave us this “Turbo Dog”-inspired version that they made bigger and A (taste it) you get to taste some roasted coffee, coconut, sweet bready notes and, if you really think about it, some vanilla notes. The finish is pretty clean, but a bready sweetness hangs around. Overall a good beer, but we expected something more, and even the vanilla part initially hard to pick up. We called this a “border-porter” since it’s not quite a porter and not fully a brown either. Not too sweet, but we still have to really think about the vanilla to make it appear, but once it does it’s a very natural vanilla flavor. They don’t try tomake you drink a hop plant, or shove wood down your throat; instead, they just try to orange highlights, and a very frisky head sits on top. The aroma is bourbon, vanilla, and some faint T ING chocolate and smokey notes. Nothing overwhelming, just good aromas all dancing in the glass. The taste is where you will fall in love. The silky smooth mouthfeel delivers coffee, toffee, smokey, vanilla, anise, cocoa, some peppery spice, and even a little bit of oak and wood. The beer finishes in that same silky-smooth profile the taste provides. This one isn’t a huge bag of flavor bomb, but it is a wonderfully balanced treat in a bottle that really can only be described as lovely.
