ERALL Port Brewing - The Lost Abbey O 85 IAmerican strong ale that is surely more devilish than angelic. It pours a murky/muddy brown, and nof you didn’t know, “angel’s share” is a term in distilling that describes the portion that evaporates fromthe barrels over time and is, therefore, for “the angels.” The Lost Abbey’s take on this is a barrel-agedANGEL’S SHAREGNIT100AOUT OFRV real head appears, but lacing on the glass is there. The aroma is raisin, Tootsie Roll, bourbon barrels, and alcohol. The flavor is very alcohol forward, and once you get over the burn, you get raisin, some Tootsie Roll/ caramel and lots of oaky and barrel notes. The carbonation is very minimal, and we think that this might be better down the road, but fresh, it’s very alcohol forward and the flavors are very sharp and sometimes too powerful. The angels like their stuff strong, and this one might turn them into fallen angels. THE RESULTS 70º Appearance: 8 Murky, darker brown with a minimal head and some lacing. 65º(out of 10) 60º Aroma: 12 Raisin, brown sugar, tawny port-esque and very oaky. 55º (out of 15) 50º (out of 40) Tootsie Roll. This release in their Dank Tank series takes on a scary theme and literally O 96 I’m sure we’ll catch some crap for that review.LLAREVOUT OFSweetWater BrewingDANK TANK GHOULASHhere must be something in the water in Atlanta, because the crew at SweetWater keeps cranking double IPA and is more than double delicious. The beer pours a demon black with glowing red highlights, NGITAthrows just about every hop they had into each bottle. It’s called a double black, double dry hopped,100R and a pillowy tan head sits on top like a gargoyle. The aroma slices into your nose like Freddy Krueger with a sharp orange and tangerine flavor and a minute amount of Tootsie Roll. Once you take this demon into your soul, you get murdered with orange, tangerine, and a nice, slightly candy-sweet backbone. There’s a slight bit of Tootsie Roll in the background. The finish is hoppy, and a little bit of the malt comes through, but this is a great imperial black IPA! THE RESULTS 70º 65º Appearance: 10 sticks to the glass. 60ºDeep, dark, and scary.
